Jones will Always be the Baby

January 4, 2010

I’ve realized after talking to a few people that we should clarify why the silhouette is between Charis and Jones and not just at the end.  I’m sure most people have guessed that it means that the next Carroll child will be between Jones and Charis in age.  And you would be correct!  But I thought I should explain the why behind that a little more.

First of all, though I love newborns, I’m ok with not doing the baby stage all over again.  I find that as the kids are getting a little more older, I’m hitting a better stride as a mom.  Second, we realize that because of the way that their birthdays fall, Jac will start Kindergarten in the fall of 2010, Charis the very next year in 2011, but Jones won’t start until 2014.  They are all about two years apart, but because of school cut off dates, this is the way it falls for us.

If we adopted another infant, our concern is that the gap in school grades may separate  our biological children and our adopted children more than we’d like.  So by adopting somewhere between an 18 month-3 year old, we close that school gap.

Our homestudy is written for that age range and when it comes time, we will get a referral of a child in that window.  Of course for any reason we could decline the referral, but this is the age range that we are approved for.

We are praying now for that child – they are out there somewhere!  Pray with us for the protection of this sweet child until we can bring them home.  We can’t wait to meet him/her!

I actually figured it was because the need was higher for toddlers then infants.thanks for clarifying… I am so excited for you all and this new one you will be bringing home very soon! Adoption is amazing!
