i600a Form

January 11, 2010

One of the key pieces of the paperwork process in international adoption is the i600a form.  It’s basically an immigration form that allows you to PRE apply for citizenship before you even know exactly what child you will be bringing back to the States.

This form is fairly short at 2 pages:

But the instructions on HOW to fill this form out…well…

Apparently they are VERY particular about how this form is filled out and will return it to you if anything is incorrectly filled out or missing.  So, with the help of my AWESOME home study social worker, we filled it out to the best of our ability and OFF it went, along with the $670 filing fee and $160 for both John and I to get fingerprinted.

After they process this form, they send us the necessary information for us to take with us to get our fingerprints done.  Should take 4-8 weeks.
