The Yard Sale today was really, really encouraging!

We received donations from about 10 families and as you can see above, we had a TON of stuff. This photo was taken after a couple of hours of selling.

The morning started with Ashleigh up at 4:45am getting stuff over to the park. I couldn’t get out of bed till 5:20. We were fully set-up by 7am.  It would have been impossible though with out Natalie Best and Megan Staggs.  Natalie was a super organizer of the clothes, upgraded our signage and donated donuts to the morning.  Megan set things up till the first kid woke and then she spent about 6 hours with our kids today to free us up for the sale!

The morning started off really slow, by 9 I was almost ready to give up.

The Commercial Appeal Garage Sale map showed that people coming from East Memphis would have to pass at least 25 yard sales to get to ours!

By Noon though, things were looking up. We thought it was worth it for sure.

We had plenty left over, so Julie Lewis came over and we loaded up a full long bed truck load and her mini-van (it was so full, it was dangerous). Julie is throwing a Yard Sale in May to benefit Urban Young Life and our friends the Provences’ who are adopting 2 children from Ethiopia!

All in all I was hoping for $600, maybe $700 bucks. But when I just ran the numbers, after our expenses, we brought in $1064.85!

Thanks to everyone who made it possible.

For Donations we would like to thank:

  • The Ottingers (They gave sooooo much!)
  • The Kennedys
  • The Crenshaws
  • The Patels
  • The Phillips
  • The Davis’
  • The Edwards
  • The Horrocks
  • The Vaughans

    Praise God for the success!

I was wondering if you could pass on some of those dossier tips you had mentioned in an earlier post. We just got approved by our agency and we are sending in our orientation packet next week. Next step will be to start our home study and dossier. I’d love to get it done as soon as possible! Thanks for your time!!
