Attachment

July 11, 2010

I wrote a post today on some connections I made about Attachment and our relationship to Jesus.  To read those thoughts, go to ashleighcarroll.com.

A friend of mine asked for my “reading list” for these types of issues.

Honestly, I’ve only really dug into a few books, so here is my puny little list:

Attaching in Adoption by Deborah Gray (very clinical, but FULL of information)

Toddler Adoption: The Weaver’s Craft by Mary Hopkins-Best (my go to right now, much easier to read)

And, just recently, my adoption role model sent me this awesome website that is an expansion on The Connected Child.

I’ve got a list of other books for transracial adoption and other general adoption issues, but that exhausts my research on attachment!

Have read D.Gray (agree with your assessment, love the end section esp!) & The Connected Child–my fave. Still waiting to “try them out” though! 🙂

Brady and I heard Karyn Purvis speak at this conference we were at and she is amazing. I mean, amazing in every way. She talked about doing 40-day fasts like we were all (obviously) well acquainted with them. And did so in complete humility.

Besides that, she’s a kiddo jedi. I came home using a couple of her suggestions on my friends’ kids and it’s like magic. I haven’t read her book, but even without having kids I definitely want to read it at some point.
